This is a compulsory question on the CXC paper . The project will be your grade for the period after mid year .

Instructions : The project must be enclosed in a file jacket and only one side of the page should be written on . There should not be more than 20 leaves including cover page and tables . Arrange the information in a logical order .

The student should be able to :
(a) list six important elements essential for plant growth
(b) identify sources of the essential elements needed for plant growth
(c) describe the deficiency of three named elements on plant growth
(d) relate the importance of nitrogen compounds in home gardening
(e) discuss the importance of humus in soil
(f) explain the effect of adding lime to soil
(g) explain why lime and ammonium fertilizer should not be added at the same time
(h) compare the use of chemical and biological control of pests
(i) discuss the use of herbicides
(j) describe the use of hydroponics in growing crops
Please note that this is a lot of information . Do not wait until the last week to start . Do piece by piece slowly over the five months . You may share the research by assigning parts in groups of your choice but the projects must be presented individually and must be original . No two similar arrangements . The mark for this will go on your final report as no test will be given in May . The projects will be discussed as a lesson the first week in May .
