Experiment 8 Quantitative Analysis 3 : Standard Solutions Aim : To prepare a standard solution . Directions : You are to prepare a 0.25 molar solution of sodium hydroxide in a 250 ml flask . Place water into the flask to around quarter the volume . Weigh out the correct mass of sodium hydroxide pellets on a filter paper . Gently tap the hydroxide pellets into the flask through a funnel . Reweigh the filter paper . Gently use water from a wash bottle to allow all the pellets to enter the flask . Stopper the flask and swirl to allow the pellets to dissolve . Add more water to the neck of the stem . Swirl again . When the pellets have dissolved add water to the line on the stem and swirl . Let the flask stand to allow the solution to homogenize .
